How the ESPN import works

ESPN keeps league pages behind your login, so an ESPN league imports through a one-time connection from your own browser: the RotoHound Connector, a bookmarklet you click on your ESPN league page, or the RotoHound Chrome extension. Either one passes along the league access your ESPN session already has, and RotoHound imports every roster, the scoring settings, the roster slots, and the current standings. RotoHound reads from ESPN and never writes to it.

Trade impact in standings points

Pick the two teams and the players on each side. RotoHound applies the trade to both rosters, rebuilds each lineup, and recalculates the projected league standings. The result is the number of standings points each side gains or loses, so a trade offer becomes a concrete number instead of a gut call.

Category-by-category breakdown

Every scoring category shows its before and after. You can see which categories the trade helps, which it costs, and how the rest of the league moves around you. Points leagues get the same treatment in projected points.

What RotoHound reads from a ESPN league

ESPN’s scoring settings import as they are: rotisserie or head-to-head, standard or custom categories, or ESPN points. Daily or weekly lineup locks set how RotoHound projects your lineups, and the ESPN standard roster (C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, CI, MI, five OF, Util, nine P, three bench, two IL) is the starting preset, adjusted to your league’s actual slots. The transaction log syncs too, so adds, claims, and trades can be graded by what the players did afterward.

Frequently asked questions

Does RotoHound work with private ESPN leagues?

Yes. ESPN keeps private leagues behind your login, so the import runs from your own browser with the RotoHound Connector or the Chrome extension, which pass along the league access your session already has. This step needs a desktop browser; the rest of RotoHound works on a phone.

Does it read ESPN points leagues?

Yes. ESPN points scoring is a built-in preset, and custom point values import with the league.

How does RotoHound score a trade?

It applies the trade to both rosters, rebuilds each team’s lineup, projects every team’s rest-of-season stats, and recalculates the league standings. The score is the change in projected standings points for each side, using your league’s exact categories or point values.

Does it work for points leagues and head-to-head?

Yes. RotoHound models rotisserie and head-to-head leagues, category and points scoring, and custom formats, including platform presets for Yahoo, ESPN, CBS, and FanGraphs points.

Where do the projections come from?

RotoHound publishes its own rest-of-season projections, updated daily. You can also upload projections from FanGraphs or any other source, and every tool uses whichever system you set as your default. The methodology page explains how the built-in projections are made and how they benchmark against Steamer and ZiPS. Read the methodology

Is RotoHound free?

Yes. RotoHound is free for the 2026 season with a free account.
